Yersinia Pseudotuberculosis - Reviewing the Impact

The United Fresh Food Safety Committee is undertaking a review of the issues surrounding the Yersenia Pseudotuberculosis Outbreak last year. 

The objective is to understand, from a domestic fresh produce industry perspective, the areas where we need to undertake planning in order to be better prepared for any future outbreaks.

In addition we are trying to understand in broad terms what the impact was in terms of affecting sales both positively and negatively.

This includes communication channels, sources of information and expertise and how we can work more effectively in the event of a future outbreak.

It is not intended to be a finger pointing exercise, rather a look at the wider issues and to learn from them.

We are contacting a range of people and organisations that were affected including growers, wholesalers and retailers, conducting a 20 minute telephone based survey. We will be compiling a report that will be widely available and will form the basis for future planning and consultation with MPI .
