New Country of Origin Regulations coming into force on 12th November 2021

As previously communicated, the Government has recently introduced mandatory Country of Origin Labelling for certain foods, including fresh fruit and vegetables as per the following descriptions;

  1. A plant, or a part of a plant, that can be eaten as food; and
  2. Includes a mushroom or edible fungus, sprouted legume, coconut, green bean or pea, snowpea, edamame bean, broad bean or sweetcorn

The regulations apply to food that;

  1. is only 1 type of fruit or vegetable, fish or seafood, or meat; and
  2. is fresh, or is frozen or thawed (but would otherwise be fresh); and
  3. is no more than minimally processed
